Rating:  - Excellent as a base.
Ms Quinn has written a very good book on personal finance. I bought this book when I saw it was recommended by Charles Schwab. The book is very big and it is a lot of reading, although, easy to read and understand. I don't totally agree with her opinion on stock splits. They are tricky. If you check AMTD, AMZN, CMGI, MSFT, LU and a few others, you will see that it is indeed easy and predictable to more than double your money very quickly with splits. On the other hand check NBTY, RI and some others-- dead in the water. Obviously, I play splits and believe in them, but you have to be careful. I do prefer to see someone like JBQ warning investors on splits than seeing others pushing splits as a get rich quick scheme. It doesn't work all of the time. Overall a good book. I also suggest More Wealth Without Risk and The Millionaire Next Door. These are also "Wealth Building Books" not "Get Rich Quick Books". Nice book. But I wouldn't make this your only financial book.

It has been said that during the last bull market, a blindfolded monkey shooting darts at a dart board and making selections based on where the darts landed could have made a fortune.Conversely, I know people who lost a lot of money following Quinn's"safe", "expert" advice.So if it comes down to choosing advice from Quinn or a blinfolded monek, go with the moneky. Your chances are better!

This book is loaded with bad advice. I am not surprised to see all of the one star reviews, only surprised that it took this long.Making the Most of Your money is loaded with bad advice. Not only is Quinn's equity investing advice way off, so is her advice on how to invest in bonds. At best you would have lost less money with her bond strategies than by following her equity strategies, but whow ants to lose money??I caught on to Quinn several years ago when she ran a supposed expose on a "Get Rich Quick Guru" hyping five thousnd dollar seminars. I agreed with Quinn on concept and I too am leary about these seminar promoters but was appalled when I saw that she was recommending a competitor to this guru and suggested sending a hundred dollars for two cassette tapes that were probably worth about a buck. Abuse of power! No wonder her newspaper colum was cancelled and her book sales have slipped so badly. I believe that the five star reviews are from her sponsors and personally have not met anyone who is financially smart who recommends this book.I do see a lot of rewiewers who do not recommend this book, nor do I.
